Scottsdale Symphonic Orchestra Presents “Legends and Legacy: Myth, Heroism, and the American Spirit”

The Scottsdale Symphonic Orchestra (SSO) continues its America250 season—The American Journey: Struggle, Spirit, and Triumph—with a concert that celebrates the heroes, myths, and stories that shape our shared imagination. Legends and Legacy: Myth, Heroism, and the American Spirit takes the stage on Sunday, November 23, 2025, at 4:00 PM, under the baton of guest conductor Daren Weissfisch of the Tacoma Opera. This family-friendly concert is packed with instantly recognizable and crowd-pleasing favorites, including John Williams’ sweeping scores from Star Wars and Harry Potter, the overture from Disney’s Beauty and the Beast by Alan Menken, and the exuberant “Can-Can” finale from Offenbach’s Orpheus in the Underworld. Adding epic grandeur to the mix, Wagner’s legendary Ride of the Valkyries brings the power and drama of myth to life. Designed for audiences of all ages, Legends and Legacy bridges generations through music that is as cinematic as it is symphonic. From movie magic to operatic legend, the program explores how stories—whether ancient or modern—help define who we are and what we aspire to become. “This concert is pure musical adventure,” says Denise Wilson, Executive Director. “It’s bold, fun, and full of energy. Whether you grew up watching Star Wars, love classic Disney, or simply want to share an inspiring afternoon with your family, this is a perfect way to experience orchestral music at its most exciting.” The concert is part of SSO’s America250 season, marking the upcoming 250th anniversary of the United States through concerts that celebrate resilience, diversity, and the shared human stories that bind us together. Tickets range from $10 to $35 and are available at ScottsdaleSymphonicOrchestra.org or through the Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts box office.
