Scottsdale Symphonic Orchestra Seeks Visionary Board Member to Help Guide Future Growth

Scottsdale, AZ — The Scottsdale Symphonic Orchestra (SSO), a dynamic and growing force in the Valley’s cultural landscape, is inviting passionate, community-minded individuals to apply for a position on its Board of Directors. This leadership opportunity comes at a pivotal moment as the orchestra expands its artistic reach, deepens its community impact, and prepares to celebrate America’s 250th anniversary with bold, inspiring programming.

Founded on the belief that high-caliber symphonic music should be accessible to all, SSO has become a cornerstone of Scottsdale’s arts scene—featuring a vibrant roster of 70–90 professionally trained musicians performing six thoughtfully curated orchestral and three chamber music concerts each season. From beloved masterworks to underrepresented voices, from engaging local collaborations to educational outreach, the orchestra brings music to life in ways that resonate far beyond the concert hall.

“Our mission is more than performance—it’s about connection, wellness, and community,” said Denise Wilson, Executive Director of the Scottsdale Symphonic Orchestra. “As we continue to grow, we are looking for a board member who shares our values and can bring leadership, expertise, and fresh perspective to help guide us into the next chapter.”

SSO’s volunteer-powered model blends artistic excellence with innovative stewardship. Recent highlights include commissioning new works to expand the orchestral repertoire canon, offering free concert tickets through its Making Music Accessible to All program, and building a strong base of support from individual donors and community partners.

Ideal candidates will bring a passion for the arts, a commitment to community service, and experience in areas such as nonprofit leadership, philanthropy, finance, marketing, or strategic planning. Most importantly, they will be eager to shape the orchestra’s future in a way that continues to inspire, include, and uplift.
