Scottsdale Symphonic Orchestra Opens Its 2025–2026 Chamber Music Series with an Afternoon of Intimate Masterpieces

The Scottsdale Symphonic Orchestra (SSO) proudly announces the opening concert of its 2025–2026 Scottsdale Chamber Music Series, taking place on Sunday, November 2 at 2:00 PM at the Steinway Concert Hall in Scottsdale. Presented in an intimate setting and curated by the musicians themselves, this program highlights the artistry, collaboration, and spontaneity that make chamber music such a personal and powerful experience.

The concert features performances by SSO musicians in three distinctive ensembles:

  • The Apollo Trio, consisting of Denise Wilson (oboe), Heather Van Beek (basset horn), and Christine Kyhn (piano) performing Ludwig van Beethoven’s Creatures of Prometheus, Op. 43 No. 14 – Solo della signora Casentini, a delightful and rarely heard chamber adaptation from the composer’s only full-length ballet.

  • The Saba Trio, featuring Josh Facello (violin), Donald Harvey (horn), and Chris Granger (piano), presenting Johannes Brahms’ Horn Trio in E-flat Major, Op. 40, one of the great Romantic masterworks of the chamber repertoire, filled with lyrical beauty and emotional depth.

  • The Wall-Berg Duo, with Robert Heiligenberg (flute) and Michelle Wall (flute), performing Felix Mendelssohn’s Scherzo from A Midsummer Night’s Dream, transcribed for two flutes—a sparkling and whimsical showpiece that perfectly captures the joy of ensemble music-making.

“Each piece on this program reflects the heart of what chamber music is all about—connection, creativity, and expression,” said SSO Executive Director Denise Wilson. “Our Chamber Music Series gives musicians the freedom to explore works they love and audiences the chance to experience classical music up close in an inspiring, personal way.”

Tickets for the concert are free but limited, and every Chamber Music Series event has sold out in advance. Early reservations are strongly encouraged.
